The semi-final of the "New Wave 2007" contest took place in "Metelitsa" entertainment complex of the capital on May, 22 and 23. An unprecedented number of semi-finalists streamed to Moscow this year: about 150 young talents from 25 countries of the world presented their creative work to the jury. Unfortunately, contestants from 3 countries failed to arrive at the semi-final because of the tours. It demonstrated the fact that many of those who are honoured to represent their countries at the "New Wave 2007" contest have been popular in their motherland and loved by the audience for a long time.

greeted the appearance of Laima Vaikule (a member of the jury at the "New Wave" in Jurmala) who watched the performances of young talents with great attention.
The jury heard 69 representatives of Russia as well as participants from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Cyprus,
Kirghizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, USA, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Czechia, Switzerland, Ecuador and Estonia in two days of the semi-final. Each of them presented two
compositions that had been selected to show the best of the vocal and artistry of a singer. "You can make sure that geography of the contest is very extensive this year - Alexander Rumyantsev said. - The number of applications is increasing annually. And we are very happy of it. The more versatile the singers from different countries are, the more interesting the contest is and the more unforgettable it is for the audience. Every finalist becomes popular
not only in his country, but also among millions of TV viewers all over the world. Many finalists of the contest took part in "Eurovision" competition in different years and participants of "Eurovision" became contestants of the "New Wave"!
