The winners of the "New Wave 2008" contest in Jurmala Rati Durglishvili and Maka Zambakhidze are planning to release a disc and make their first clip in the nearest future. This was announced at the press conference held in RIA Novosti international press centre of Tbilisi on Monday. The duet's success at the contest was like a national victory for Georgia. The young singers got Orders of Honour from the president of Georgia and each of them got a "Chevrolet" from the City Hall of Tbilisi. "Our first task is to record a disc and make a video clip", Rati said. The duet is to make a clip for Rati's song "In love we swim", that was performed on the third day of the contest. The duet has also received an invitation to Arno Babadzhanyan memorial evening in Yerevan. We were told that our performance of "Nocturne" on the second day of the contest impressed everyone, Maka Zambakhidze said. Maya Kipiani, the producer of the duet, said that the duet had been formed after Maka and Rati's victory at the "Imedi Wave 2007" national contest a year and a half before. "The idea to go to the "New Wave" contest in Jurmala flashed across me. Since Maka and Rati have known each other for a long time and could adapt to singing together easily, we decided to create a duet. Moreover, there are not many duets nowadays. So we went to Moscow, had auditions and took part in the contest", Kipiani said. The patriarch of Georgia Ilya II phoned Maka and Rati on one of the days of the contest and wished them good luck. The singers admit that this phone call left a lasting impression on them and they are going to present one of their songs to the patriarch. "We were also very pleased to hear Alla Pugacheva read the greeting of the president of Georgia Michael Saakashvili", Rati said. After the victory at the "New Wave" contest, Rati Durglishvili and Maka Zambakhidze are full of new ideas and they are getting new offers. Source: http://www.shoowbiz.ru/
