After performing at the "New Wave 2008" International contest of young pop singers in Jurmala where Omar received a Golden Star prize from Alla Pugacheva, the singer from Kyrghizia gave a press-conference in Bishkek.
Speaking about the contestants from other countries, Omar mentioned that "the show-business in Kyrghizia is only developing and there are many negative aspects. Our singers need to try to sing live more, but it's sad that the audience sometimes does not understand whether the singer performs live or using a full playback", the artist said.
Omar was critical of his performance at the "New Wave" contest; he said that if he were in the jury, he would not include himself in the list of the first five winners. "I know there were faults in my performance. This can easily be explained - the song was changed one day before the performance, so I was more trying to remember the words on stage than singing the song", the singer said. Nursultan Syrdygaliev, the singer's producer, explained that the songs Omar had intended to sing had been changed because they had not matched the timing.
Among other things, Omar's producer said that Russian hair designer (and a singer) Sergey Zverev complimented the Kirghiz singer for having been "the only person dressed for the performance properly".
