08.08.2003 Swearing, fighting and strip-tease, all looked very cultured and unobtrusive in Jurmala.

'Where is Boris Moisseev?' shouted a local tramp threateningly at the accredited festival folks. 'I demand Borya!' Which made it clear that nobody, not even Jurmala marginals, remained indifferent to 'New Wave'. Indeed, how can one be indifferent if, along with 'New Wave,' they have brought the dynamism of Moscow life to Jurmala. Traffic jams, ridiculous taxi fares, crowds of youth yelling songs, and so much music that it was almost impossible to digest all of it. However, we've digested,...

Journalists were actually chasing Andrey Malakhov, the contest leader (as well as the leader of 'Big Laundry' on the first channel of Russian TV). The 'Chas' daily managed to interview Andrey in between the rehearsals of the third contest day.
- As far as I know it's your first stay in Jurmala...- It's my first time at a contest, in Jurmala, too, but my second time in Riga. We are very lucky with the weather. Of course, I'd love to spend some more time on the beach, travel around the...

On the night after the third contest day (when the winners were defined already) Jurmala hosted a large-scale pop-party. The day before there was a huge rock-concert. There came lots of people (about 25 thousand!) for both events. The holiday was universal! The rock-concert was started by the stage-veteran, the group 'Aria.' The hard-rockers have been on stage for 17 years and have a big fan audience. The performance was accompanied by fire flashes and motorcylists' ride on the stage. 'Nebo...

01.08.2003 Spare suit for Raymond Pauls. Stars in Jurmala are hidden from paparazzi

As it is due at any large-scale festival with prizes and places, the first thing inquisitive journalistic minds are trying to find out is who, with whom and what about - has agreed beforehand and what they have divided in advance. For example, it is getting more obvious (and is confirmed by some European authorities indirectly) now, as the time passes, that the group 'TaTu' couldn't get the first prize at 'Eurovision' under any circumstances - even if they were able to sing better than...

26.07.2003 Contestants' Workdays

Group '101' (Kazakhstan):We like Jurmala very much. We enjoy the atmosphere of the place, new friends and working with such high class professionals as Alexander Revzin. The adrenaline which we get on the stage is really necessary to us. It's cool! Just an hour ago we had a telephone conversation with the last year's contestant and our fellow-country-woman Dil'naz Akhmadieva.
